IT’S been a very busy week at CBS Primary School as they celebrated receiving their Health Promoting Schools flag and welcomed an Irish Olympian.

On Wednesday, the celebrations began with a rooftop exercise class lead by teacher (and Irish Rugby captain) Ciara Griffin. The Health Promoting Committee collected the fruit and made up fruit baskets for each class.

There was yoga, a dance party, a picnic in the fairy garden and George Bastible from RINKA Tralee came around and did a session with some of the classes.

On Friday, the active theme continued when Fiona Doyle, an Irish Olympic swimmer visited as part of the Dare to Believe Programme which was launched in February to inspire and motivate young people to live a healthier lifestyle.

Fiona spoke about losing out on a place on the Irish Swimming Teamfor the London Olympics by half a second and how she persevered and overcame that disapppointment by working harder and eventually making the team for the Olympics in Russia in 2016.
