VOUCHERS that may be redeemed exclusively in shops, hair and beauty salons, restaurants, cafés and hotels in Tralee have been launched to give the retail and tourism sectors in the town a potential economic boost of up to €300,000 in the first year.

Tralee Chamber Alliance has devised the initiative to encourage consumers, from home and away, to purchase and redeem the vouchers in the town and in doing so, support local businesses.

Launched by the President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Aidan Kelly and the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Graham Spring, the first Vouchers will be available to buy in the next couple of weeks, just in time for Christmas shopping, and will make a great gift for family and friends.

Employers are also being urged to consider using these vouchers as a tax efficient Christmas gift to their employees.

The Managing Consultant for Tralee Chamber Alliance, Ken Tobin, said: “The Tralee Voucher initiative has the potential to yield €300,000 worth of revenue to the various participating sectors in the first year.

To make the Tralee Vouchers as successful as possible, we are asking all Tralee businesses to sign up to become a registered ‘Participating Outlet’. The more places that accept these vouchers, the more people will purchase them.”

The Tralee Vouchers, which will be available in €10, €20 and €50 denominations with no expiry date, can only be purchased at The Tech Co, Dominick Street Tralee and online at www.Tralee.ie on behalf of Tralee Chamber Alliance.

A full list of participating outlets, which is subject to change, will be available from www.Tralee.ie and Tralee Chamber Alliance is encouraging all businesses in the town to sign-up.

Three high profile retailers in Tralee – Garvey’s Supervalu, Shaw’s Department Store and CH Chemist – have already signed-up as outlets where the vouchers will be accepted as payment for goods and/or services.

“The registration process is simple, and while participating outlets will pay a small 6% handling charge, the Tralee Vouchers will help generate more sales for local businesses,” said Ken Tobin.

For more details on how to sign-up as a participating outlet or for customers to learn how the system will work, visit www.Tralee.ie, email business@Tralee.ie or call Tralee Chamber Alliance on 066-7121472.

I would have a percentage off to give people an incentive to buy these vouchers I don’t see how it can work without giving something to draw people .
