Churchill 2-12 St. Senans 2-8

Churchill Juniors had their first win of the campaign as they ran out deserving winners against a spirited St. Senans team.
Churchill started the stronger and built up a quick lead by scoring the first 3 points. St Senans then responded with their first score from a free.

Tommy McCarthy got the crucial score of half when he found the net from a hopeful kick into the box. However St Senans responded well and were the dominant team for the rest of the half leaving the the half time score, Churchill 1-05 – St Senans 0-06.
Churchill regained their dominance in the early part of the second half and built up a lead of 6 points with some quick points and a goal from Michael O’Brien.

St Senans again rallied and had the deficit down to a single point after scoring 2 quick goals either side of a Churchill point. However Churchill were able to bring on some fresh legs and finished strongly to pull away and win on a score line of Churchill 2-12 versus St. Senans 2-08.
Churchill Juniors will be playing their 3rd round league match on Friday next 29th May at 19:30 away to Kerins O’Rahillys.

Executive Meeting
There will be an Executive Meeting next Thursday May 28th at Spa Community Centre
at 8.30 PM. All Executive members are requested to attend.

Our U-10s hosted St Pats and Ballyheigue in a blitz in our new pitch last Sunday morning. There was a great turnout of players from Churchill – the players were split into 2 teams – a Community Games selection and an U-10 selection. Both the Churchill teams won their matches against St Pats and Ballyheigue and had a very close and competitive game amongst themselves, with the Community Games side just coming out on top. Well done to all the players and thanks to the teams and mentors from St Pats and Ballyheigue.

Community Games
The Community Games U-10 football tournament is on in Na Gaeil on Bank Holiday Monday. It will be played in a blitz format, and those eligible players from the Churchill U8s and 10s will be competing. Please come along to support next weekend.
