AT the end of the year medal presentation held at Ballyroe Heights recently, Cillard Camogie Club had much to celebrate as they looked back on a very successful year.
Special guests Michelle Costello county secretary and Laura Collins Kerry Camogie Seniors were on hand to present medals to the various teams. The following is a brief account of their activities for 2015…
2015 proved to be a very successful year for Cillard Camogie Club when our U-12’s captured the Kerry county league with wins over Parnells, Killarney and Causeway. They were also successful at the Causeway Under 12 Blitz.

Our U-13’s completed in the Limerick 12’s aside Cup Competition when we reached the final with wins over Crecora and Ahane, and in a very competitive final they just came up short to a string Knockaderry side on the score line of 4-0 to 2-4.

Our U-14 completed a Feile and County League double over Causeway, we then travelled to Armagh to complete in the National Feile Finals, where our hosts club was Middletown who made sure that our girls had a brilliant weekend.
Cillard won through to the Division 4 final having won five games. The final was to prove a step too far for the girls as they were defeated 3-3 to 1-0 in very difficult conditions, as it rained throughout the game which gave our physical opponents a distant advantage.
So Cillard came home with the silver medals having won many friends over the weekend.

Our U-15 had just one tournament when they completed for the Veronica Stack Cup at a well organised blitz at Killarney Camogie Club, Victories over Clonakilty, Tralee Parnells and Saint Colms saw Cillard reach the semi final where we had a good win over Middelton County Cork.
Causeway were our opponents in the final they were very impressive on the way to winning.
It proved to be a very close final with very little between the sides, Cillard came out on top on a score line Cillard 2-1 to Causeways 2 points. Cillard were celebrating as Erin Stack was presented with the Veronica Stack Memorial Cup.
The Under 15 panel was, Sophie Griffin, Jessica O Sullivan , Triona Curran, Alannah Stritch, Kate O Shea, Erin Stack, Chloe Casey, Brid Horan, Sarah Walsh, Kellie Meehan, Amy McCarthy, Amy O Sullivan, Ciara Casey, Saoirse Sheehy, Sarah O Sullivan.
Cillard U-16 completed in Division 6 of Limerick League AND Championship. The league was played in April and saw Cillard defeat Kilmallock and Bruff.. But defeat to Newcastlewest meant Cillard qualified to the shield semi final, were we came up against Croagh Killfiney when we lost out by one point on the score line 4-9 to 4-8.
In the championship in August we had a great win over Kileady 7-11 to 2-0 which was our best performance all year. We were then drawn against Crecora in the semi final which was played in Ballysteen, again Cillard put up a brilliant performance but had to give way to a very talented group girls from Crecora.

Our U10 and U8 teams participated in Blitzes throughout the year at Killarney , Tralee and Causeway as well as holding a Blitz in Kilmoyley. The highlight for the underage girls in this age group was attending the Veronica Stack Memorial Tournament in Killarney in September where the U11 and U9 girls participated in a day of sport and fun against Cork and Kerry teams
