Local Organisations Benefit From Supermarket’s Charity Initiative

THREE local organisations have received a cheque each of €181 from Tesco’s Community Fund.

John Mitchels GAA, Animal Help Net Kerry and Banna Sea Rescue were the organisations who the public gave generously to using the Tesco Community Fund blue tokens at both stores in Tralee over the past eight weeks.

Staff at Tesco nominate the three causes or groups, Every time customers shop in their local Tesco store, they receive a blue token at the checkout to place in the donation box of the local good cause they would most like to support.

At the end of the 8 weeks the blue tokens are weighed and €500 euros is divided up and presented to the local causes.

Tesco in Tralee have given over €5,500 to causes in the local area through the inititive. Any local cause can pick up an entry form in store to apply.

Representatives from John Mitchels GAA and Banna Sea Rescue were at Tesco in Abbey Court to pick up their cheques. Animal Help Net Kerry were unable to attend.
