Council Urges People Home For Christmas To Check Out Jobs On ‘SciTech’ Website

KERRY County Council is urging any Kerry natives who are home for Christmas and who may be looking for job opportunities in science or technology in the county to visit a new online portal which lists a range of vacancies in the sector.

Launched recently, KerrySciTech is a not-for-profit organisation whose primary aim is to promote and highlight Kerry as a science and technology hotspot.

The KerrySciTech website enables its members to advertise their jobs through a single web portal. Job seekers can view vacancies which exist in Kerry companies and apply for those jobs directly to the member company.

Based at the Tom Crean Business Centre, at the Kerry Technology Park, the initiative is supported by the IT Tralee and Kerry County Council and it has the support of many leading Kerry companies including Dairymaster, FEXCO and Aspen Grove Solutions.

Kerry County Council Chief Executive, Moira Murrell said that the website, www.kerryscitech.com is a one-stop-shop for graduates and those already working in the sector to source employment in Kerry.

“Over the Christmas and New Year period, there may be natives of the county who are home for a visit and who are aspiring to work in their native Kerry in the science and technology field. The website lists the vacancies which companies are currently advertising and, as well as providing information on vacancies, it allows those companies to promote their job opportunities,” she said.

“Over the coming months, we aim to increase the number of companies participating. An initiative such as this which supports access to the necessary talent pool that companies require can only enhance Kerry’s attractiveness as a business location. It is one of the many ways that Kerry County Council and our partners in the county will promote Kerry as a destination for employment and investment in 2017,” she said.
