SINN Féin TD Pa Daly has called on all Kerry TDs to support his party’s motion to extend the ban on evictions this week.

Deputy Daly said that most of the 3000 households and individuals facing eviction in April will have nowhere to go. The motion will be debated in the Dáil today (Tuesday) and be voted on the following evening.

“Individuals and working families now face being made homeless in April, as a direct result of the government’s decision to end the eviction ban,” he said.

“The reality is there are working families, single people and pensioners who will have nowhere to go. It is unacceptable that we have heard nothing from the Taoiseach, Tánaiste or Minister for Housing about what support those people will receive in the coming months.”

“The Rural Independents group also launched a strange attack on Sinn Féin, blaming us for the decline in private rental properties. This is to distract from the fact that up to last week they actually supported the government’s lifting of the ban,” he added.

“It is also true as there are many reasons that landlords are leaving the rental market. House prices are back above their peak and many are cashing in, as they are entitled to do. That is why they must support our motion to extend the ban on evictions,” continued Deputy Daly.

“They can work with us to urge the government to see sense and extend the ban on evictions, and put in place an ambitious series of emergency measures in the months ahead to reduce the number of people becoming homeless and to increase and accelerate the supply of social and affordable homes,” concluded Daly.

The fact of the matter is if you are a non Irish national claiming asylum and you are genuine or not the state has taken care of you more than their own citizens!
There was no safety net to prevent Irish families from homelessness.
FF, FG and SF all support open boarders and the burden to the tax payer this entails and at the same time allow the Irish to become second class citizens in their own country.
This is due to our corrupt sell out politicians, the EU and NGO’s.
I personally feel Ireland is no longer my country and would not fight for her if she was invaded, I would simply leave and claim asylum in another country and be better off for it.
All the political parties are the same and they have all let the Irish people down.
