SINN Fein TD for Kerry, Pa Daly, has called for ministerial intervention to solve capacity issues on the 272 bus route from Ballybunion to Tralee.

This follows reports that a number of students waiting for the 8am bus were left stranded on Tuesday as it was full to capacity.

“I am hearing from constituents that people are being left at the side of the road due to demand,” said Deputy Daly.

“We had understood that capacity would be looked at for this route, and of course the more people can be accommodated on public transport, the better for climate emissions. Students and workers rely on the service to attend college or work in Tralee, and the route passes through Listowel as well as Ballybunion.

“Both Councillor Tom Barry and I have contacted Transport for Ireland and the Minister. The matter should be urgently looked into by the Service Planning team and the Minister should intervene also.”
