The Kite Fest takes place on Inch Beach next month.

A FUN Kite Fest fundraising event in aid of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind (IGDB) will be held by their Tralee Branch at Inch beach on September 12.

People are encouraged to either build or bring along their own kite and enter in some fun kite competitions including “Best Hero Themed Kite”, “Best Bin Liner Kite”, “Most Colourful Kite”, “Best at Kite Flying”, and others.

Together, Creative Ireland and the Design and Crafts Council Ireland offer a range of resources to help you to get making and flying your own kite, ranging from very simple paper-based kites, or recycled ones, to more exciting designs, even musical ones.

Simply search for fly a kite on the www.dcci.ie website or visit www.wikihow.com for other audio and text-based instructions.

It costs €53,000 to breed, train and care for a Guide Dog during its working life.  Fundraising events such as this Kite Fest play an important role in the ongoing efforts to help change the lives of those who are vision impaired and the families of children with autism.

So why not gather up some recycled items, get creative, get outside kite flying and support IGDB changing lives, Sunday, September 12 from 12.30pm to 2.30pm at Inch beach.

The event shall adhere to COVID-19 guidance. Number of entries is restricted.  More details and resource links on their branch Facebook page @irishguidedogstraleebranch or guidedogstralee@gmail.com
