SEED funding has been put in place for the development of a skate park in Tralee and an application for the balance has been put in with the Sports Capital Grant Fund.
Kerry County Council was asked for an update on the development by Sinn Féin Cllr Toireasa Ferris at Monday’s meeting of Tralee Municipal District councillors.

The skate park, which is to be located near Tralee Sports and Leisure Complex, was granted planning permission last year and following a procurement process, Bencrete Ltd. has been appointed as contractors for the construction of the facility.
As well as the application for Sports Capital Funding, alternative funding streams are also being considered by the promoters.
Cllr Ferris said the situation was going on for some time now and was disappointed that it was looking like August before any funding would be announced from the Sports Capital fund, if indeed any funding is granted at all.
