THE All Ireland Club Finals will take place in Croke Park this St Patrick’s Day, and although no Tralee Club will take part, two past pupils from Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí will take to the hallowed turf in both games.
Darragh Ó’Conaill and Daithí Ó’Cathasaigh were students in the school in the noughties and were on the team that won the All Ireland Vocational Schools with the Gaelcholáiste in 2006.
Darragh Ó’Conaill, from Abbeydorney, will play hurling with Cuala, the south Dublin side, against Ballyea, from Clare on Friday.
Darragh played hurling with Kerry at all grades, but transferred to Dublin as he is now a primary teacher in Greystones, Wicklow.
Daithí Ó’Cathasaigh, from Killarney, will play football with Dr Crokes against Slaughtneil, Derry. He has won numerous county senior football medals with Dr Crokes and has played with Kerry at all grades. The school is wishing both men the best of luck in the finals.
