A crime prevention stand and 3 checkpoints were set up for Gardaí to give the relevant crime prevention advice on topics such as fraud, bogus traders, personal safety and home security.

Members from the Roads Policing Unit and the Regional Dog Unit also visited Scoil Saidhbhín primary school and spoke to students about road safety and the duties that Gardaí and the Dog Unit do on a daily basis.

Speaking at Caherciveen Garda Station today, Inspector Mike Fleming said “This operation was primarily focused on intelligence gathering and disrupting the sale, distribution and use of controlled drugs in South Kerry. Drugs can effect so many lives and have no place in our communities. We also had members out providing the public with crime prevention advice. This is vital as it not only also us to get to know our locals better, it allow us to inform them how to keep themselves and their homes safe from criminals”. The four men have since appeared before Caherciveen District Court.
