GARDAI in Tralee are appealing to the public for information regarding burglaries and criminal damage incidents in the town over the past week.

On Friday, August 23 between 8pm and 9.30pm, a house at Willow Brook in Ashleigh Downs, was broken into. Entry was gained by forcing in the front door. A small amount of cash was taken during the break-in.

Also, on the same date over in Castlecountess, between 5pm and 9.30pm, the back door of a house was forced open and the upstairs wardrobe was searched.

Gardaí believe that the burglar was disturbed, as items taken from upstairs were discarded around the ground floor, suggesting he/she left in a hurry.

Gardaí are investigating a case of criminal damage in the Old Marian Park area. On Monday, August 19, the tyres of a car belonging to a visitor to the town were slashed between 12.30am and 1am.

If any member of the public witnessed any of the incidents or has any information that would help gardaí with their investigations, they are asked to contact Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
