GARDAI are investigating burglaries and a suspected pickpocketing incident in Tralee over the past week.

On Monday, November 18, a woman entered Penneys on The Mall at about 11.20am and her phone was in the side pocket of her handbag.

She suspected that a female was following her, but when she left the store he phone was missing. Gardaí say pickpocketing is not common in Tralee and they are asking the public if they saw anything suspicious in Penneys or on The Mall that day to contact them.

Between Tuesday, November 19 at 6pm and 9am on Wednesday, November 20, tools were stolen from a house under renovation by Council workers at Shanakill estate.

Meanwhile, during the same time period, a burglary occurred in a construction site in Clash and a number of tools were taken. Gardaí do not believe the thefts are related.

They are asking if anyone saw anything suspicious at both locations during these timeframes or have been offered tools for sale, to contact them.

Also, a burglary occurred in Powers Centra in Abbeydorney, at around 1.30am this morning, Monday, November 25. Four males entered via the rear door of premises and a small quantity of cash and cigarettes were stolen.

The men were using a dark coloured jeep and gardaí are asking anyone who saw a jeep of that description travelling in the area in the early hours of this morning, to contact them at Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
