AUSTIN Stacks won a battle between three local clubs in a competition to sell their lotto tickets at the local post office, in what is a good start to their centenary year.

Back in September, Martin and Marie Williams of the Rock Post Office  set three GAA Clubs – Stacks, Kerins O’Rahillys and St Pat’s – a task where the club whose supporters making the most transactions in the Rock PO up to December would win the right to exclusively sell their Club Lotto Tickets there. It was all to raise awareness of using local post offices, as their futures are under threat.

Well the ‘home’ side won on this occasion with Rockies doing the most business at the post office.

It’s an early win for the club which is celebrating its centenary this year. A large calendar of events is planned to celebrate and mark the occasion and these events will be unveiled at a formal launch later in January.

One of the first will be a Centenary Corporate Lunch which will be held in Ballygarry House Hotel on Friday, February 24.

Many will recall the memorable occasion two years ago with over 500 people enjoying a great event where Joe Brolly shared the stage with Kieran Donaghy.

The cost is €1,000 for a table of 10 (businesses, families etc) or pro-rata for smaller numbers. More details will follow in the coming weeks.
