Juvenile News

Saturday Mornings

U6

Great numbers again over the last few weeks and we have new members coming to us all the time. The coaches are doing a great job with the boys and girls and their skills are improving weekly. We have only a few weeks left before we break for the winter so if anyone is thinking of joining now is the time to come along and see how much fun we have every Saturday morning from 11 to 12.

U8 and U10 / Boys

The U8 and U10 boys are still training every Thursday evening in Ballyrickard at 6 and again on Saturday morning at 11.

U8 and U10 Girls

The girls are still recovering from their day out in Passage West last Saturday. They did really well in the Blitz coming away with 3 wins and a draw. The stop off in Supermacs was well deserved. Well done to Dan and Cliff for having the girls so well prepared for the games. Also a big thank you to the parents who travelled with the girls.

U12 Boys

The final game of the U12 Central Region did not take place last Sunday evening as Glenbeigh / Glencar conceded the game and so the U12 boys run out clear winners in the competition. Well done to all the boys who were so dedicated all year. Also to Denis, Mark, Paul, Sean and Mike for all the time put in with the boys.  Also to the parents who were always great support on the side-line.

U13 Boys

The U13 boys took part in the Lee Strand blitz last Saturday in Connolly Park. We competed against An Ghaeltacht in our first game. We won that game with some great displays from the boys. The next 2 games were against Ballyboden St Enda’s and Oranmore. Both these teams were very strong and we were beaten in both. We played Na Gaeil in the Plate Semi-final but a late few scores for Na Gaeil saw us leave the competition. Every player gave their best on the day so well done to all involved.

U14 Boys.

The U14 boys had their first game of the Town League this weekend away to John Mitchels. We played extremely well on the day despite very wet conditions and we came away with a comfortable win. The next game is against Austin Stacks B team which will probably be this Wednesday evening.  Confirmation of this will be posted on Facebook over the next few days.

U16 Boys

The U16 boys also started of their Town League campaign away to Ballymac on Thursday evening. We were short a few players but still the boys showed great spirit and never gave up. However Ballymac proved too strong and won comfortably at the end.

Ladies News

The ladies will have a recycling drive during the next week. We will accept bags of clothes, towels, sheets, shoes and bags. This will raise more funds. So if you want to clean out your wardrobes, hot press bag it up and drop to dressing rooms before the 23rd of September. Contact Breda 0863161407 or Shirley 0868713552 or any coach for information.

U12 girls. Kerins O’Rahillys travelled to Banteer on Saturday 17th to take part in the Munster Ladies Football blitz. The girls played 3 very competitive games. First game was against Ballincollig Cork. Kate Kerins and Rachel O’Donnell were outstanding in mid field.

Keelan Coffey and Hollie Leane were very strong in defense and kept Ballincollig from scoring. The game ended in a draw. Their second game was against Kilshannig from Mallow. Eugenie Kerins was very impressive up front scoring a few goals.

Katie Nix was also very quick up front along with her other team mate Aoibhin O’Connor McCarthy and put a few scores on the board. Third game was against Knocknagree Cork. Lauren Doody and Rachel Foley kept it very tight at the back for the final game with plenty help from Bronagh O’Carroll.

Kelly Fitzgerald was also very impressive in goals and Kerins O‘Rahillys came away with a win. All the girls played their part in the 3 the games and everyone had a really enjoyable day. Thanks to all mentors and all who travelled to support the team on the day. Training continues in Ballyrickard on Friday at 6.30. If you have any queries about training contact Marie Nix on 0879734923.
