10k: The 3rd annual 10k race took place on Sunday morning last in quite testing conditions but did not deter the participants with more than 300 hardy souls taking part; a big thank you to the organisers, all the participants and in particular to our U-14 boys who along with mentors Denis Hanafin and Kieran O’Connor ran their own 5k as part of their preparations for the season ahead.

Derek Griffin was first home in the mens in a time of 34:45 followed by Sean O’Sullivan (35:00) and Simon Mangan ( 35:42). In the ladies Deirdre Nagle was first back in a time of 39:58 with Siobhan Daly next in a time of 41:22 and Suzanne Neilan (41:36). (TraleeToday.ie will have photos from the event on Tuesday)

Seniors: Our seniors began their 2017 training last Friday night ( 27th Jan) in tough conditions in Strand Rd. Management were encouraged by the big turnout with in excess of 25 players togging out.

John O’Sullivan was on hand to put the guys through their paces and with many of them again running the 10k on Sunday there were plenty of tired bodies around Strand Rd by Sunday lunch time.

This coming Sunday (5th Feb) sees our season swing into action when we play Na Gaeil in Killeen in the Tralee town board league with throw in @ 12.30. As we will be lining out without our county panellists, this fixture will present those on the fringes of the panel with an opportunity to stake their claim for a place when the county league kicks off in late March.

Minors: We got our season off in fine style on Saturday last when beating Ballymac on a scoreline of 3-13 to 2-10 in the Tralee town league.

Ladies : The U-12S & U-14s are back training this week on the astro turf in The Green.New members most welcome, bring a friend, spread the word. More information can be had by ringing (087) 8713552
U-16 & minor ladies training will commence shortly.

Bord na nOg : A family fun day is being held on Sunday 12th February in Strand Rd from 2.30- 5.00pm to launch our move to Sundays for the juvenile academy ( boys and girls aged 4-10 years); there will be something for everyone on the day including a Cross Bar Challenge, Penalty Shoot Out,Face Painting etc- our county players will also be in attendance. New members always welcome, more details later.
U-12 boys will begin training on Tuesday 31st Jan with U-10s starting on Tuesday 6th Feb from 6.00- 7 .00 pm- players will be notified by text.

Lotto: Lotto jackpot of €5,900 was not won on Monday night last where the numbers drawn were: 9, 28 , 29 & 32. There was one match 3 winner with Betty Tobin winning €25. Jackpot will now increase to €6,000 so why not purchase a ticket for €2 for your chance to win or share in the big prize?

The lotto takes place on Monday nights in Charlies Bar with a special in house raffle on the night also for those attending. Please note that it is the responsibility of each individual playing our club lotto via direct debit to ensure that direct debit is paid monthly to the club. In the event that we do not receive two consecutive monthly direct debits an individual’s lotto numbers will no longer be valid for entry to our weekly lotto draw. If an individual cancels their direct debit their lotto entry is deemed cancelled.

Sympathy: Sincere sympathy is extended to the families of the following who died recently: Bill Horgan, Cloondara, Anna Cronin, Caherslee, Celine Daly, Racecourse Lawn & Margaret Marie Sugrue of Garryruth.
