Seniors:
Our next outing will see us take on old rivals Austin Stacks next Sat night 3rd Nov in the final of Coiste Trá Lí championship  which will throw in @ 7 pm in Austin Stack Park. We are the defending champions and seeking 3 in a row in this competition – best of luck to the lads on the night.

The county senior league final fixture  vs Dr Crokes remains unclear following Dr Crokes win on Sunday in the senior county championship final vs Dingle; Crokes will now go on to represent Kerry in the Munster championship with a game next weekend vs Tipperary champions Moyle Rovers at a Tipperary venue with the winners at home to Cork champions St Finbarrs in the semi finals.

The semi finals and final of this competition are fixed for the weekends of Nov 11th & 25th respectively with Dr Crokes also involved in East Kerry championship – this would mean that should Crokes progress that we would be looking at a fixture in Dec – its not an ideal scenario but all we can do is to sit and wait and see how matters develop.

Well done to senior panellist Shane McElligott who was part of the Lixnaw team that defeated Tipperary side, Cashel King Cormacs in the first round of the Munster intermediate hurling championship on Sunday in Lixnaw.

Lixnaw will now go on to meet the Cork champions again in Lixnaw this coming weekend ( the Cork final is being replayed on Bank holiday Monday, 29th October).

We would like to wish midfielder John C O’Connor a bon voyage as he leaves for Canada this week – John C played a vital part in league and championship this year and while we wish him all the best in the maple leaf country it is hoped to see him back in the blue colours in the not too distant future.

Gavin O’Brien’s exploits in the blue jersey this year have been rewarded with a call up by Peter Keane to the Kerry senior squad – the wing forward has been one of our outstanding performers this year and its no surprise to see him being given a chance – well done Gavin.

Congrats:
Staunch Strand Road woman Mary O’Brien celebrated her 90th birthday in fine style recently with a party in Ballygarry House Hotel.

Mary is well known for her efforts in Tralee Tidy towns but without her our weekly lotto draw would be much lighter given the amount of tickets she manages to sell – indeed, our second last winner ( Mary McCarthy of Knockmoyle) purchased her ticket from Mary and both were in Strand Road on the night for the presentation of the winning cheque.

Mary was joined on the night by her sons, daughters and grand children and the invited guests had a great night in toasting a wonderful  lady – well done Mary.

Congratulations are also sent to Fred Browne who scooped the jackpot in Tralee Dynamos weekly lotto draw last week.

Halloween Party

There was a great buzz in Charlie’s Bar & Bistro  on Sunday as the juvenile academy had their medal presentation and Halloween party. Everyone enjoyed a puppet show and had Mickey and Mini Mouse join them as well as Batman , Skye and Chase.

The kids had plenty of treats and of course a party wouldn’t be a party without Paula’s fantastic face painting.
It was great to see new faces from our community join us. Thanks to parents and grandparents for taking the time on this bank holiday weekend to bring the children.
We are looking forward to seeing everybody at our Christmas party on Sunday, December 9th.

Cumann na mBunscoil
Congratulations to Tomás Kennedy who captained Scoil Eoin Balloonagh to Cumann na Mbunscoil success last week.
