Munster Senior Grade C and Grade E Championships

A strong Kerry representation made the long trip to Wateford for the Grade C and E championships on Sunday last (Feb 3rd).

The Kerry players certainly didn’t disappoint either with Niamh Hickey (Killarney) having an amazing day winning the Ladies Grade E singles herself in three sets 17-21, 21-12, 21-17. She then partnered up with Helen Browne (Moyvane) in an all Kerry final in the ladies doubles against Amanda Carmody (Moyvane) and Samira Hayes (Killarney). This proved to be another difficult three setter but Browne and Hickey eventually prevailed 21-13, 17-21, 21-9. Later in the evening Hickey teamed up with Aaron McGee to win the mixed Grade E title and complete a very impressive treble.

In the C Grade Tom Bourke (Kingdom – Castleisland) reached the final and took the first set in it before eventually going down to Ben Mortlock 16-21, 21-16, 21-15. Edel Kenny also came up just short in the Grade C ladies double with playing partner Caroline Hayes. They went down in the final to Shauna Kennelly and Lucy Fox 17-21, 21-18, 21-18.
