FIRST Cut! Youth Film Festival 2017 is back for the 8th year running and Kerry filmmakers have just days to submit their entry.

The festival which takes place from April 27 to 29, will provide young filmmakers with an opportunity to screen their films and bring them together in a great festival atmosphere.

It showcases new films by young filmmakers over three days packed with screenings, workshops, and talks by film industry professionals.

Deadlines for both the Open Call and the Youth Music Video Competition are 28th Feb. For more information or to submit a film, visit their page here.

To enter the competition, you must aged between 12 and 24. To enter the Youth Music Video Competition you must be aged between 18 and 23.

It provides a valuable opportunity for young people to network with both amateurs and professionals, and to share their passion for making films with a wide group of likeminded people. Every type of film is screened: fiction, documentary, animation, music video and more.

Though the event runs for only three days, over 100 shorts will be screened across a wide range of genres, and numerous panel discussions on all the intricacies involved in creating a short film, as well as give its audience the opportunity to participate in some interesting Director Q&As and post-screening discussions.
