Murder Investigation Launched After Death Of Man In Ballyduff Area

A MURDER investigation has been launched by gardaí in Listowel into the death of a man in his 70s in Rattoo, near Ballyduff, earlier today.

The man died when the car he was driving was in collision with a teleporter this morning. The driver of the teleporter, a man in his 60s, was uninjured and was arrested by gardai.

He is being held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Listowel Garda Station where he can be detained for 24 hours.

A technical examination of the murder scene at Rattoo in Ballyduff is underway now by the Garda Technical Bureau and the state pathologist is due carry out a preliminary post mortem, before the man’s remains are removed to University Hospital Kerry. Both the deceased and the man who was arrested are believed to be from the area.
