Kerry Ladies: Good luck to Mary O’Connell and the Kerry Ladies Team who are away to Dublin in Round 1 of the TG4 All-Ireland Championship next Saturday at 5pm in Parnell Park.

Senior Men: Round 9 of the Co. League took place in Killeen on Sunday last. Played in ideal conditions, apart from a slight breeze, Na Gaeil got a great result, 2 – 14 to 2 – 08, a result that looked very unlikely at half time when we trailed 0 – 03 to 2 – 04.

The old cliché, a game of two halves, certainly applied. Kenmare ambled through the first half while Na Gaeil stuttered and started, kicked bad wides, dropped the ball, miscued passes and generally did not raise a gallop.

We won the throw-in, but Kenmare won back the ball and Jimmy Lehane got their first point from play after 1 minute. Devon Burns equalised for us after two minutes with a long range free.

Eoghan McCarthy put the visitors ahead with a fine free followed by a point from play by Kevin O’Sullivan on six minutes followed by a goal on ten from Eoghan McCarthy Leaving us five points adrift.

Dara Devine got a point from play on eleven minutes. Kenmare continued on their merry way with a point from Kieran Fitzgibbon and a goal from Kieran Lehane. Jack Bourke got our last score of the half on twenty-two.  Half time score 2 – 04 to 0 – 03 in favour of the visitor.

Second half started and look like a continuation of the first. The visitors broke away from throw in and Eoghan McCarthy got a point from play in less than a minute leaving us 8 points adrift. However, they managed only three more, the last, a free, deep in injury time.

In the third minute Dan Goggin burst through for a point and followed with a goal, more or less from the kickout, which we had won.

Dara Devine, a free in the fifth was followed immediately by another from Devon Burns.  After some great play by the backs the ball came to Dan Goggin who slotted over. Jack Bourke after ten and Tadhg Reen got it all square, 1 09 to 2 06, with two well worked points.

From there to the end centre field and the backs kept control of all about them and kept the forwards well supplied with ball and nipped in the bud anything that came their way. Our scoring was completed with points from Dara Devine, Dan Goggin and Devon Burns. Dara Devine put the icing on the cake with a great goal with last kick of game.

The referee did well with no black or red cards issued or contentious yellows.
