COLM Cooper, Johnny Buckley and Mikey Geaney have all been ruled out of the Kerry v Clare All-Ireland SFC quarter-final in Croke Park this Sunday.

There is good news however, as Peter Crowley will return to the match day panel after he was ruled out of the Munster Final because of a broken nose.

Colm Cooper has not recovered from the shoulder injury sustained in the Munster Final. Mikey Geaney has picked up an ankle injury while Johnny Buckley is nursing a knee injury and has lost the race against time.

It had been expected that Cooper would not make the deadline after damaging shoulder ligaments in the first-half of the Munster Final against Tipperary.

This weekend Kerry will face Clare for the second time this year having already dispatched of the Bannermen by 12 points in Killarney back in June.

The championship structure has come in for a lot of criticism over the last few days because of Kerry’s perceived very easy route to a potential All-Ireland semi-final.

It means Kerry could get to a semi-final have only faced teams who played division 3 football in 2016.
