BRIDGE players from all over the country are in town this weekend for the North Kerry Bridge Congress 2018 at The Rose Hotel.
The popular event has seen almost 50 rooms booked at the hotel for the event and one of the organisers, Tom Hardiman, told TraleeToday.ie that numbers are up 30% on last year already.
The event will go until Sunday night with players participating in both day and evening sessions.

“They are from all over Ireland and quite a few of them are staying for three days. They’ll be out in town too shopping so Tralee will see a boost,” said Tom.
“It’s the old Ballybunion Congress which was running for the past 50 years, but has been held in Tralee for the past three. The numbers are really growing and are up 25 to 30 per cent on last year. Everyone is very happy with the event. There’s top hi-tech equipment for scoring so players can get a printout for all the hands they played at the weekend,” he said.
Tom said it is also a great social outlet for people as some are widows and widowers as well as couples. He said 90 percent of the people who attended last year came again this year and the hotel facilities and staff came in for particular praise from the visitors.
