AFTER missing the Munster Final against Tipperary, Peter Crowley, gave a frank explanation of how he got that broken nose that kept him out.
“It was like a scene out of Braveheart,” said the Killorglin man at the launch of the All-Ireland Series in Dublin on Tuesday. “Johnny Buckley has got a hard forehead,” he added.
The 2014 All-Star says he’s best of mates with the man that did the damage.

“He’s like my best friend, I lived with him for four years in college. He came off with a little tiny scar! Ah, it was just bad. Just have to get my place back, that’s the only thing. That’s the only worry,” he said.
“It’s good now. I got an operation on the Monday after the Munster final so that settled it down as well. Dr Moriarty in Tralee General did a good job on it,” he said.
The Laune Rangers man was still named in the starting 15, two days before the Munster Final and was hoping he could make it.
“I took a bit of a knock at training, got a bit of a puck on the nose. I was trying up until the last minute to play but my breathing just wasn’t right,” he said.
“When you have a quality player like (Aidan) Mahony or (Jonathan) Lyne on the bench, you’re only being selfish saying you can play, you’d only be doing them a detriment by putting yourself ahead of the team. I’m probably leaving myself open now to some fella boxing me in the face in the quarter-final! It wasn’t great,” he added.
