Paul O’Grady earned a man of the match trophy, for shutting out the Abbeydorney forwards and pushing Causeway to another Intermediate title.

O’Grady was brilliant at the back, but up front, John Mike Dooley was his usual brilliant self.

Dooley lost his hurley, late in the game, attempted to kick the ball, he was blocked with a hurley, the resultant free put Causeway ahead, 1-16 to 1.15.

This was an excellent game of hurling, played in a good spirits. The sides were level at 1-8 each, at halftime, the scorers in chief were, Brian Donovan, scoring six points for O’Dorney in the first half and three in the second. John Mike Dooley, had one goal and two points for Causeway in the first period and added three more in the second.

It was nip and tuck, right up to the final minutes, until the foul on Dooley.

John Mike had the last score of the game, a 65. Brian Donovan had two 65s, one he dropped into the square, that was cleared for a 65, the second 65 he sent wide.

Pat Dineen of the North Kerry Hurling Board presented the trophy to Mark Murphy captain of Causeway.
