A CHRISTMAS market every Saturday in Tralee is providing a place for people to show their goods and contributing to helping a charity shop with its rent.

The Tralee Craft Market is located on Courthouse Lane (opposite Polymath) and offers an alternative spot to pick up a unique gift.

Ruth Falvey, of Little Bow-Tique, runs the market and explained what goes on there.

“We have all kinds of crafters and they vary every week. We have bakers, people who make Christmas decorations, hampers, diaper cakes, picture frames and more. It’s great to have a place indoors for the crafters to show their wares. They come from all over Tralee.

“We rent the tables to the crafters at a very affordable rate so it’s fantastic for them and the money we collect goes towards the rent for the Tralee Socialstore,” said Ruth.

The Tralee Socialstore offers food that is surplus to requirements, best before items, cosmetic damaged goods, that would otherwise end up in landfill. Their objective is to give low income families an opportunity to obtain food for their family, to reach those with dietary requirements, such as cardiac, diabetes and other diseases so that they can reach their recommended food intake requirements.

Many businesses in town have come onboard and donated food and other items. The shop is open on weekdays form 12noon to 2.30pm. The craft market is open from 10am to 5.30pm every Saturday.  Scroll down for photos…
