WHILE Met Eireann promised some heavy rain on Sunday morning, it stayed away for the most part for participants in a fun run in the town park.

Members of Tralee Boxing Club gathered for the fundraising event from 11am. The club is based at Monavalley Industrial Estate and requires considerable funding for the upkeep so all funds raised are vital.

Hence they decided to put on the event which they hope to make an annual affair open to the public.

The club, which was formed back in 1936, is hoping to secure a permanent home in Moyderwell and planning permission was granted for the building of a clubhouse there.

Club Chairman Bryan O’Sullivan said the Council and indeed the town is behind the project, but funding is the problem and they are actively seeking meeting with the various agencies to try to secure those funds.

There was a good turnout of members on Sunday morning and afterwards they went back to the club for refreshments. Scroll down for photos…
