Tralee Boxing Club Among County Winners In National Lottery Good Causes Awards

THE six county winners from Kerry have been announced in the National Lottery Good Causes Awards with Tralee Boxing Club honoured in the Sport category.

They will now compete for a place in the National Finals judging phase next month, after which the National Finalists will be announced.

The awards aim to celebrate the inspiring work being carried out by thousands of projects, clubs and individuals who have received support from Good Causes funding.

Initiatives recognised at the awards include Tralee Boxing Club, a volunteer run, not-for- profit community organisation that has been serving the town of Tralee for almost 90 years; Killarney Immigrant Support Centre (KASI), an NGO based in Killarney which provides support services to Asylum Seekers, Refugees and other Migrants; and the World Fiddle Day Scartaglin Community Group, which celebrates the fiddle and traditional music of the surrounding area.

The awards aim to honour, showcase and celebrate the inspiring work being carried out nationwide by thousands of projects, clubs and individuals who have received support from Good Causes funding.

The 6 County Winners of the National Lottery Good Causes Awards from Kerry are:

Sport: Tralee Boxing Club

Community: Killarney Immigrant Support Centre (KASI)

Arts and Culture: World Fiddle Day Scartaglin Community Group

Heritage: Lyreacrompane Heritage Group

Health & Wellbeing: AK Inspired CLG

Youth: Kerry Diocesan Youth Service (KDYS)

Announcing the Kerry County Winners today, National Lottery CEO, Andrew Algeo, said: “Good Causes who support communities across Ireland are at the heart of the National Lottery’s purpose. It has never been easy to narrow down the list of hundreds of entries, however, it is a great pleasure to congratulate the Kerry County Winners this year and to be able to show our appreciation for their commitment to communities around the country.”

This year’s awards ceremony event will take place on Saturday, 21st October  in Killashee House Hotel, Naas, Co. Kildare.
