MERCY Mounthawk were the big winners at the annual Irish Science Teachers’ Association Kerry Branch senior science quiz last night at IT Tralee South Campus.
Fielding three teams, the school came first and third in the competition, with the winners now off to Trinity College Dublin for the National Final on Saturday week, November 23.
Diana Meriakri, Felix Walker and Sean Hennessy made up the winning team and they’ll be joined in Dublin by an Intermediate School Killorglin team of Orla O’Sullivan, Sean Paige and Louise Hearne who came second and therefore also qualify for the final.

The winners received a trophy and a cheque for €100 each, while second place team members received €50 each.
Tom Grimes, Sean McCrohan and Jessica Murphy claimed third spot for Mercy Mounthawk after winning a tie-breaker round with St Brendan’s Killarney.
There were sixteen team in all taking part from around the county, including three entrants from Presentation Tralee and one from CBS The Green. Best of luck to the Kerry teams next week in Dublin. Scroll down for photos…
