IT’S been a long time coming.

Three years have passed since the clubs, societies and organisations in Tralee had a chance to show their pride in the community and country on St Patricks Day and there was a wonderful turnout in the town on Thursday.

The theme this year was ‘Let’s go the Green Way’ which promoted the upcoming completion of the Greenway from Tralee to Fenit while bringing awareness to sustainability and green initiatives.

Well there was plenty of green on show, both in the parade and amongst the crowd, as the participants made their way from Boherbee throughout the town from 12 noon and arrived in The Mall just after 12.15pm

Luckily the light showers cleared up so everyone could enjoy the sunshine for the duration of the parade.

The Grand Marshals  were the Little Blue Heroes  from the Kerry Garda Division and they received a great reception from the crowd.

MCs Elaine Kinsella, Mike O’Donnell and Sean Lyons returned this year to keep the crowd informed as to who was coming next in the parade as they passed the viewing stand filled with local dignitaries.

A super show of the best of Tralee then and just under an hour and a half after it started it was all over for another year…but the fun in Tralee is only beginning this weekend! Scroll down for some images from the parade (many more to come tomorrow)…
