ANOTHER great year in Tralee Imperials Basketball Club was celebrated with their annual awards night in The Rose Hotel on Friday.
The club is making huge progress as Chairman John Dowling explained: “We’ve had a very successful year. Our club is involved in setting up the Warriors with St Brendan’s and it was hugely successful which has propelled both clubs.
Our Under 16 girls got to the All-Ireland, our Under 18 and Under 20 boys got to the quarter-finals and were beaten by the eventual winners. We have an academy of 120 of boys and girls under the age of 10, so we’ve had a very successful year numbers-wise,” said John.

Many of the club players are also with successful school teams in Mercy Mounthawk. Also they have a number of international players in the club.
“We’re making presentations tonight to two Darragh Kennelly and Rachel Ryan who played with Irish Under 16 teams. Also, Ryan Leonard is part of the senior Irish squad,” he said.
All in all, this looks like a club going in the right direction.
