A LARGE group of women dressed in pink protested the arrival of Tánaiste, Joan Burton, at a Labour party meeting in The Brogue Inn as part of the Right2Water movement.

The ‘Pink Ladies’ were protesting about the water charges in peaceful and silent manner where there was a Garda presence.

“The idea is if there are women protesting it won’t be so intimidating, we don’t want to be seen the same as the people up in Dublin who were throwing water balloons at Joan Burton,” said Phil Horgan of Right2Water.

“The women stand in the front and the men move to the back, there is no name-calling just peaceful, quiet demonstration” said Phil Horgan.

Tánaiste Joan Burton arrived at the Brogue Inn at 8pm, she entered the building via the side door. Inside she met, local Labour party members and North Kerry Labour Party TD, Arthur Spring.

‘The Pink Ladies’, finished their demonstration with a march to the square.
