Revenue Officers Seize 10,000 Cigarettes From Tralee Residence

Revenue LogoREVENUE’S Customs Service seized 10,000 cigarettes with a retail value of over €4,600 at a private residence in Tralee, on Tuesday.

In an intelligence-led operation, the cigarettes were found by officers in two packages, each containing 5,000 ‘Legendario Negro’ cigarettes, which had been consigned from Germany to an address in Tralee.

Officers seized the cigarettes following a controlled delivery and the execution of a search warrant.

A Latvian male in his 30’s was questioned by Revenue officials and the investigation is on-going with a view to prosecution.

This seizure is part of Revenue’s on-going operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes in the shadow economy.
