Kerry schoolboys and girls soccer league team of the week ;
Well done to Gavin Parker from St Brendans Park Fc U12’s who made the Kerry schoolboys and girls soccer league team of the week .

REPORTS ;

(U17) League ; Park Fc 5-2 Iveragh Utd

Following the abandonment, due to a flooded pitch, of their last home game v Castleisland, Park played their first full game in eight weeks at home to Iveragh Utd at Christy Leahy Park on Saturday last. The first half saw Park dominate possession with Eamonn Sheehy controlling the midfield exchanges. Tomás Leen was also marauding down the right flank from full back and his cross was just missed by Gavin Wadding as the home side sought an early lead.

Iveragh remained dangerous on the break but centre halves, Sean Tansley and Gary Howard were strong and with Robbie Dinan absent through injury, stand-in keeper, Patrick Kearney was masterful in the air. Darcy O’Sullivan was unlucky not to convert another Park chance when he smashed a superb drive off the crossbar.

However, for all their possession, Park were unable to penetrate the visitor’s defence until Donagh O’Brien opened their account with a typical finish when he drifted in behind the South Kerrymen. The home side kept up the pressure and O’Brien clipped the post with another effort, but Iveragh equalised against the run of play when a long ball was headed on and finished well by their striker and it remained deadlocked at the interval.

Park introduced John O’Brien into their attack for the second half and he made an immediate impact with his physical presence and incisive running. The home side’s pressure paid off when Nathan O’Leary’s delivery from a corner proved too hot for the keeper to handle under pressure from Rory Kelly at the near post. Playing with even more confidence now, Park extended their lead when Shane McGinley, who was outstanding at left back, split the Iveragh defence with a pinpoint pass to John O’Brien who made no mistake with the finish.

The home side were cruising now but Iveragh rallied again and an incisive move down the left flank was completed with a fine finish to make it 3-2. Park were rocked but responded in the best possible way by keeping the ball well and switching the play when the opportunities arose. They were rewarded when Rory Kelly steered home a cross to restore their two-goal cushion and shortly afterwards, John O’Brien’s effort hit the crossbar.

At that stage, Park introduced Ronan Duggan to bolster the defence and Cormac Hurley did a similar job at left wing-back as Park switched to a 5-3-2 formation. The final act was worth waiting for though and the result was put beyond doubt when Darcy O’Sullivan scored the goal of the game when he volleyed home Donagh O’Brien’s outswinging corner to make it 5-2 at the finish.

Park: Kearney, Leen, McGinley, Sheehy, Howard, Tansley, O’Leary, Wadding, Donagh O’Brien, Kelly, O’Sullivan. Hurley, John O’Brien, Duggan.

(U14) Div 2 ; Park B 4-7 Listowel Celtic

A bad day for the Park. The score doesn’t represent the game, the boy’s played well, but here we go, we had a few sickness in the team so we had to shuffle a bit which gave Listowel the advantage, ten minutes of battling Listowel scored 1-0, five minutes after Jack placed the ball passed the keeper 1-1.Park and Listowel battled on but was Listowel’s day by half time the score was 6-1 to Listowel.

It was not the Boy’s fault but a few bad descisions which didn’t help the lads. Second half the lads went out looking good, Park got a free kick which Tony took but the Listowel keeper saved but could not hold on to and with a follow up by Jack neatly placed the ball into the back of the net 6-2. Listowel had another break and with a bit of a mix up in our defence and Listowel scored again 7-2.

Park then went on the attack and with a numerous chances the ball would not go into to the net one of those days. We should have been winning but he ho, with ten minutes to go Padraig passed the ball over to Jack and once again Jack took the ball into the box and with the keeper having no chance Jack neatly put the ball into the net, 7-3 Jack’s hatrick.

With Park still battling to close the score with only a few minutes to go Padraig on his debut and had a great game from 25 yards had a cracker of a shot which the keeper had no chance 7-4. We just ran out of time, but he ho, well done lads proud of you all. Once again lads well done. Man of the Match: Jack Murphy . Team : Joe,Josh,Samson (Capt), Cillian,Dylon,Carl(Cj),Harris,Padraig,Tony,Jack,Mark,Tennyson,Richard and Alex .

(U12) Premier ; Park A 0-3 Killorglin A

On Saturday we played a very strong Kilorglin team in Christy Leahy Park. After dominating most of the first half we almost took the lead when Martin Laucher had a good chance after he went around the keeper only to see his shot hit the side net. With all the pressure on Kilorglin’s defence the hit us on the counter attack and punished us with a great finish a left footed dink over the on rushing keeper Sean Brodrick. We were hit completely against the run of play. We had a couple of more chances before half time through jamie Fitzgerald and martin again.

But we went in 1 down at the break. The second half was much of the same with us having the lions share of the ball but Kilorglin’s was very strong and they were always dangerous on the counter attack. Which they showed as the caught us for the second time. Our were down a bit after that when they added a 3rd but fair dues to them there very strong at the back and clinical on the break.

Best on the day for park was Alan Brosnan john o connor graham sheehy man of the match for us was Armin Heinrich who has been in outstanding form this season so far.

(U12) Div 2 ; Asdee Rovers 0-10 Park B

Saturday morning was beautiful with lots of sunshine and no wind in Asdee for the game between Park under 12 B and Asdee. Park got the game under way and after lovely play in mid field by Robert Vassiu who passed to Jordan Kissane who shot the ball into the back of Asdee’s net it was 0-1 after 4 minutes. Five minutes later a superb bit of dribbling by Connor Brick and a smashing shot saw park double their lead.

Leon Daly was outstanding on the right wing for park and having made some lovely crosses into the box which Jordan got behind having three near misses he finally scored his second goal ten minutes before half time making the score 0-3 at the break. Earnan Ferris was introduced on the left wing for the second half and had a great game, Mark Brick replaced TJ Heaphy who had a brilliant first half. Minutes into the second half David Callahan scored a wonderfully worked goal linking up with Jordan to make it 0-4.

Just after that Jordan who won the ball himself in mid field ran at the defence and smashed another home for his hat trick. Again linking up with Jordan and wriggling his way around inside the box David added another to his tally and a sixth for park. Soon after Danny Graney coming on he made his way into the box staying on side an got a lovely tap in, 0-7.

Shortly after that in an almost repeat of the fifth goal Jordan again took control of the ball on the wing, played his way into the box and scored his fourth. It wasn’t long before Danny again in the box scrambled his way past the defence and scored his second. Before the game ended a lovely cross from Leon Daly on the right wing found Jordan who scored his fifth and Parks tenth.

Asdee’s attacks throughout the game were firmly dealt with by a strong back four and Ryan Guerin was particularly solid. Hugh in goal had only two saves to make in the whole game which he did very convincingly. The final score 0-10 and another 3 points for Park which makes it 12 out of 12 and puts them on top of the table. Well played to all.

(U12) Div 2 ; Killarney Celtic C 1-1 Park C

We started the game brightly with Samuel and Gavin passing the ball well to midfield where Cianan ,Tadgh and Lorcan worked tirelessly all day.Both sides had chances in the first half but none taken.Second half saw a few changes and we began to control the game more but were caught on the break on 40 mins when the Celtic striker neatly finished. Great credit to our lads because we never gave up and after creating a few more chances it was Samuel who got us level with a volley from the edge of the box after great work by Dara on the wing.Both sides had a few chances to win but a draw was a fair result.All 16 who travelled played their part but on the day Gavin Parker got Man of the Match for a brilliant display at full back. Training every Thursday at 4pm.
