YOU can’t bate a good fry-up and the people at lifestyle website, Lovin.ie, are partial to their sausages in the morning.
The Dublin-based business decided to pick the best place in each county to get a breakfast fry and they picked a Tralee institution for their Kerry choice.
“Greased to perfection, this fry is one of the finest around,” is how they describe the feed you get at Kirby’s Brogue Inn. “Complete with warm buttered brown bread and the cup o’ tae – perf. Perch yourself for the afternoon in this typical Irish eatin’ house,” reads the description in the story posted last week on the popular website.
THE Roses had a very busy day on Saturday and took time to meet young fans at the three signing events around town.
Excited kids gathered at the Grand Hotel, the Brogue Inn and the Imperial Hotel where they had their autograph books at hand for the Roses to sign.

We were at the Brogue for the Australian, New Zealand, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi rose signings to capture the atmosphere.
A MOTHER and daughter will be chopping their locks in aid of the Irish Cancer Society in a ‘Share Your Hair for Cancer’ night at The Brogue Inn, this Friday at 9pm.
After they’ve cut the hair, mother Brenda Griffin and daughter Danielle will be donating it to be made into wigs for cancer sufferers.
They’re hoping people will come along on the night to make donations to the worthy cause.
Continued below…
“I wanted to do it because my dad and two of my aunts died of cancer. I also had two aunts who survived cancer and both of my in laws died from it, so it’s something very close to my heart,” said Brenda.
“I’ve seen someone donating their hair on television and it kind of dawned on me that I’ve tonnes of hair! It’s great that people are willing to shave and cut their hair, it’s something that seems to be getting increasingly more popular. I’ve got plenty and as you can see it’s good Irish hair!” said Brenda.
Brenda’s daughter, Danielle will be coming over from Scotland especially to donate her flowing locks for the great cause.
“Danielle has the most amazing auburn hair so hopefully they’ll make good wigs! When she heard I was doing it she was on board as well straight away,” said Brenda.
So is there prospect of both mother and daughter having the same hairdo?
“Definitely not! No, I don’t want to have the same bob as my daughter, she’s too cute,” said Brenda.
A LARGE group of women dressed in pink protested the arrival of Tánaiste, Joan Burton, at a Labour party meeting in The Brogue Inn as part of the Right2Water movement.
The ‘Pink Ladies’ were protesting about the water charges in peaceful and silent manner where there was a Garda presence.
“The idea is if there are women protesting it won’t be so intimidating, we don’t want to be seen the same as the people up in Dublin who were throwing water balloons at Joan Burton,” said Phil Horgan of Right2Water.
“The women stand in the front and the men move to the back, there is no name-calling just peaceful, quiet demonstration” said Phil Horgan.
Tánaiste Joan Burton arrived at the Brogue Inn at 8pm, she entered the building via the side door. Inside she met, local Labour party members and North Kerry Labour Party TD, Arthur Spring.
‘The Pink Ladies’, finished their demonstration with a march to the square.

THERE was a Christmas gathering put on for the volunteers of Kerry Action Lesotho in the Brogue Inn on Thursday night.
Action Lesotho is a Tralee based NGO, they work with the poorest of the poor in Lesotho. The group’s bookshop in the Tralee Shopping Centre is run by volunteers.
“This is billed as a Christmas party, but what it is is a very modest gathering,” said Paul Hanrahan, Chairman of Kerry Action Lesotho.
“Our volunteers give up their time every week, this is a way we can just say thank you to them. We have nothing lavish, our volunteers wouldn’t allow it because the funds we raise are too valuable,” said Paul.
“Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty in Lesotho,” said Paul.
“Some of the people we deal with, it’s hard for us to comprehend how poor they are. An example is there is one family we deal with, there’s a mother, a 13 and a 4 year old child. In that family, the 4 year old looks after the older ones because they have disabilities, they live in a tin shack with no furniture,” Paul said.
“We work with these people and get them to the point where they can earn a living for themselves,” he said.
