GARDAI in Tralee have arrested and charged a man in his 40s in relation to a burglary at a shop on Abbeycourt, Tralee on the night October 9.
Shortly after 8am on October 10, Gardaí received a report of a burglary that had occurred overnight.
During the burglary a large number of power tools were taken from the premises. Gardai carried out a search of the area and recovered all of the stolen property which had been hidden in a nearby park.

Following an investigation by Gardaí in Tralee, a man in his 40s was arrested yesterday, November 7.
He was detained at Tralee Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and has since been charged to appear before the courts at a later date.
A NEW analysis carried out by PhoneWatch has revealed that there were 3,181 burglaries in Kerry over past decade.
The analysis, using figures from 2009 to 2018, shows that when compared to the nationwide burglary rate of an average of one in every seven homes or premises being burgled, Kerry is the safest county in Ireland with one in seventeen recorded.
Tralee Garda Station recorded the most burglaries of any of Kerry’s garda stations with 1,043 reported. While Killarney (683) and Listowel (239) were the second and third highest respectively. With just 9, Barraduff received the lowest number of burglary reports for the county.

Dublin accounted for 41% of all burglaries in the country over the past decade, equivalent to 1 in 5 premises in the county.
In total, 245,260 burglaries occurred in Ireland in the 10 years between January 2009 and December 2018. While there were significant variations year-on-year, 2018 saw the lowest number of burglaries for the decade (16,969).
While the darker months have shown higher levels of burglary for many years, this has become a more pronounced trend in recent times. Over the past decade, the research shows that when the clocks go back, until they go forward again, burglary rates have been 31% higher.
Overall, November is the highest month for burglary for many years, accounting for 11% of break-ins on average. In most recent years, there has been a rise in burglaries in January and February, with burglaries during these two months almost doubling over the past decade (+92%).
PhoneWatch also commissioned research on the impact of burglary on homeowners. Of those surveyed, 52% felt the worst impact of a burglary is the idea of a stranger being in their home, significantly ahead of the loss of possessions at 29%.
This sentiment is echoed by those who have been burgled, with 80% saying the lasting impact has been a heightened awareness of strangers in their area.
Burglary is also an event which many homeowners fear, ranking alongside losing one’s job, or getting into financial difficulty, in terms of perceived impact.
When it comes to possessions, it’s the personal items such as heirlooms (23%) or photos (21%) we fear losing the most. Of more replaceable items, over 20% are concerned about their car keys and 9% about credit cards. The analysis also found that 49% of Irish homes have an alarm.
GARDAI have arrested a man in his late teens following a burglary at University Hospital Kerry in Tralee in the early hours of this morning.
Shortly before 2am, Gardaí from Tralee received a report that a burglary that had just occurred. A description of the suspect was circulated to all members on patrol and a short time later a man was arrested.
He was brought to Tralee Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
GARDAI are investigating a number of burglaries around the county over the past week.
The Official men’s clothing store on Castle Street was broken into at around 5.30am on Wednesday morning. The front door was forced in and a sum of cash was taken in the burglary. In anyone was in the area at the time they are asked to contact Tralee Gardaí on 066-7102300.
Over in Castleisland, the Joy ladies clothing shop was broken into over the weekend between 5pm on Saturday and Monday morning.

Entry was gained through a rear entrance. A sum of cash was taken in the burglary. If anyone noticed anything suspicious please contact Castleisland gardaí on 066-7141204.
The Presentation Secondary School in Milltown was also burgled on Thursday last. At approximately 10.30pm that night it was broken into and amount of damage was done inside as well as cash stolen.
If anyone was in the area between 10.30pm and 11pm and saw anything suspicious they are asked to contact Killorglin Garda Station on 066-9790500.
In Killarney on Loreto Road, between 8.30am and 4.30pm on Monday, March 27, a house was broken into. A sum of money and jewellery was taken. Gardai in Killarney on 064-6671160.
GARDAI in Tralee are investigating a burglary at a phone shop at Manor West this morning.
It happened at around 6am at the Carphone Warehouse at Manor West Retail Park. A quantity of phones was taken during the incident.

GARDAÍ are seeking help from the public after a burglary last Thursday in Stacks Villas.
The incident happened between 7.30pm and 8.15pm . The gardai are looking to locate three tins – grey, black and red in colour – which contained a substantial amount of cash and were stolen from the house.

Only one room was disturbed in the house which is occupied by one person. Gardai are asking people who were in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to contact them at Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
LAST year there were almost double the amount of burglaries reported to gardai in Tralee than to Killarney station according data in a new infographic by PhoneWatch Ireland.
In 2015, there were 141 burglaries in Tralee which was by far the most in the county.
The figure amounts to a 22% increase on the previous year’s tally.
Killarney station (72) was the next highest, seeing an annual rise of 7%.
Sneem was the only station in the county that recorded no burglaries in 12 months.
In total there were 391 burglaries in Kerry from January to December 2015 of last year.
Looking at similar sized towns around the country, Tralee had less burglaries than Ennis (158) and Kilkenny (198) and more than Letterkenny (111).

Burglaries in Kerry during January to December 2015
THE amount of burglaries in the Tralee area rose by 19.4% in between 2012 and 2014.
New figures from the Central Statistics Office reveal that in 2012 there were 454 burglaries in the Tralee division, in 2013 there were 453 and in 2014 there were 542.
Figures published in the Irish Independent today show that in the first six months of this year there have been 244 burglaries in the Tralee division.
Stations in Abbeydorney, Camp and Fenit fall under the Tralee division. The figures show that since the closure of rural Garda stations, burglaries have increased in rural areas.
The rise in burglaries in the Tralee area is echoed in Killarney which also saw a 19% increase in cases. Nationally, there were 28,830 burglaries which is an increase of 8.4%.
