Dingle Distillery Development Could Create Up To 50 Jobs

.

UP to 50 new jobs will be created if a multi-million-euro redevelopment of Dingle Distillery gets the green light from Kerry County Council next month.

A decision on an application for the development at Milltown, Dingle — which involves demolishing a small section of the existing distillery, the construction of over 1,700 square metres of additional floor area, a new circular, three-storey tower with reception, visitor centre, bar and viewing balcony and extended production and storage facilities — is due by June 13.

It is envisaged the proposed expansion will grow the current workforce by 50 positions. The Dingle Distillery opened its doors in 2012 and produces whiskey, vodka and gin; it recently launched its first core whiskey; Dingle Single Malt.

In doing so it becomes one of few Irish distilleries to produce a core single malt product made entirely with its own spirit.

Some 50,000 bottles of the triple distilled, non-chill filtered Dingle Single Malt have been produced and will be sold domestically as well as exported to key international markets including the UK, Germany, France, China and, later this year, the US.

The distillery expects to produce 100,000 bottles of Dingle Single Malt, and half a million bottles across the distillery’s portfolio, by 2023.

Dingle Distillery
The Dingle Distillery was visited as part of a US Travel Show this past week.

DINGLE businesses will be the subject of a US travel show as a TV crew visited the town this past week.

The crew is travelling the length and breadth of the country showcasing the different food and drink experiences that we have here in Ireland.

Dingle Cookery School and Dingle Distillery were some of the places that the presenter and crew of ‘The Road Less Travelled’ stopped off in as part of their visit.

The show, which is usually broadcast to over 6 million people, is presented by Jonathan Legg and was filming the fourth season of the show when it visited Dingle.

As part of their journey, the production crew discovered Dingle Cookery School and took on cow-milking and butter making. They also  discovered distilleries and visited the Dingle Distillery.

“The food in Ireland was a highlight. Once you put a forkful in your mouth it immediately impresses. After speaking with some of the country’s top chefs I understand why. Irish chefs are taking real pride in locally sourcing their food and the quality of the ingredients comes directly from the quality of the land on which it was farmed or raised. The butter, steak, and cabbage jump to my mind as the best I’ve ever had,” said presenter Jonathan Legg.
