As one of the top ten acts chosen from the competition, the White Boys will get to perform a live set at Oxfam Ireland’s Oxjam Tent at the 2015 version of the festival.

There is a chance still though for the band to go one step further in their Picnic journey and play the Cosby Stage, with one overall winner still to be chosen from the ten.

The ten finalists winning tracks will also be played to the nation on 2FM from Thursday July 30 to Wednesday, August 12 as a public text vote competition determines one overall winning act.

This is not the first time ‘White Boys’ will be aiming for a place on the Oxfam Stage having secured a spot last year through the same 2FM competition.

“We got through in last year’s competition largely through the support shown from people in Tralee who really rallied behind the cause – the experience was honestly unforgettable so to make it two years in a row by public vote would be the icing on the cake for us. The Irish music industry is fiercely competitive so any help always goes a long way, it only takes 2 clicks to vote for us.”

White Boys released their new single ‘Stylin’ at the Chic After-Party in The Savoy Cork on July 10th along with support from Red FM DJ, Stevie G.

“The Savoy launch was pure magic, to play on that stage with such impeccable lighting, production and sound to a near packed house is something I’ll never forget. It also made sure that the new single and music video hit the ground running, we’re already starting to get international press features.”

White Boys will also launch their ‘Stylin’ in The Greyhound Bar, this Saturday July 25 and will be bringing a full band which is really something worth checking out.

“Tralee is my hometown and where it all began for me. I can’t wait to bring the whole band to The Greyhound on July 25,” said Gary.

BALLINORIG man, Gary Keane, along with his group, White Boys, launched their first single in Cork on Friday night.

The single launch took place in the Savoy in Cork City as part of the after party of Chic’s, Live at the Marquee, show.

The name of the single that Gary and his partner in funk, Eoin Walsh, from Cork, released is called ‘Stylin’ and is a guaranteed floor filler.

Also playing at the launch was well known Hip-Hop and Red FM DJ, Stevie G.

Here is the video (below) for the single ‘Stylin’ which was also launched this week.

VIDEO: Gary Funks Up Hozier And Goes Viral Again

TRALEE musician, Gary Keane, has produced a cover version of Hozier’s, ‘Take me to Church’ as part of the cork based neo-soul duo White Boys and it’s getting a lot of attention (see video below).

Gary and his partner in funk, Eoin Walsh, who is from Cork, have knocked out another hip-hop enthused retro track that has garnered attention online.

The cover which was released to the public through the White Boys numerous social media accounts on Monday is almost unrecognisable to the original, something, Gary Keane tells us, was fully intended.

“We’re doing music that is a lot closer to my heart, we wanted to totally throw the Hozier track upside down just to see how people would react to it and it’s going really well so far,” said Gary.

Last month, their ‘Family Values’ video which lampooned an anti-gay marriage rant on the Vincent Browne Live Debate show was picked up by national media and the international online gay community.

“That got a class response, I couldn’t believe that! It was good, because that put our name in the mind of a lot of press,” said Gary.

All this promotion is leading up in anticipation of the act’s debut single release ‘Stylin’ at the end of June. Quite appropriately they’re launching ‘Stylin’ at the after party of Chic’s ‘Live at the Marquee’ show in Cork.

Perhaps legend of disco and Chic founder, Nile Rodgers, will be there to give his blessing…

Tralee audiences will have a chance to catch White Boys, they’re playing in the Abbey Inn on dates, May 30, June 20 and July 4. Free admission.
