The Taoiseach Micheál Martin T.D., said: “This is very welcome news for both Kerry and Ireland, and another important milestone in the journey of RelateCare. Chief Executive of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Colette O’Connor said; “On behalf of the Chamber I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Relatecare to Tralee and we are very much looking forward to supporting them as they get off the ground.
“Former CEO of Tralee Chamber Ken Tobin and his HQ Kerry business partner Tom O’Leary were instrumental in bringing this company into Tralee. Amidst strong competition from other locations including Kilkenny, it was the drive of local business people and the facilities at MTU, particularly around nursing and hospitality where customer service is key and that helped to confirm Tralee as the prime location for setup.”
“This is a fantastic show of confidence in Tralee as a location for investment and innovation and we look forward to further announcements in the not too distant future,” she said.
The Tralee site will support several blue-chip US healthcare clients, with administrative and clinical support services covering access to care activities and post discharge management.
The hub is also in the process of building teams to support Irish clients, and RelateCare will leverage its proximity to the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht to expand its Irish-speaking employee base.
THE UK-based company which announced in 2018 that it would set up a centre in Tralee creating over 100 jobs has now delayed their plans.

THE Tralee man who was pivotal in bringing 50 new jobs to the town, is looking forward to growing the company from its new offices at Liber House in Monavalley.
Earlier today, Sigmar Recruitment announced they were setting up their European Talent Hub in Tralee. The company recently announced a €1 billion partnership with French giant Groupe Adéquat, so the future looks very bright for the firm.
This morning we went to Monavalley to meet Shaun O’Shea, the Sigmar Head of European Recruitment and a proud Tralee man.
Continued below…
Shaun, originally living in Oakpark but now domiciled in the Spa, was educated in Holy Family NS and CBS The Green, later studying Corporate Law in NUIG and completing a Masters in Human Resources.
He has been with Sigmar Recruitment for seven years now and having worked initially in Dublin, he moved back to Tralee with his family, where he has been working remotely.
Now, after much research, the company has decided to invest big in the town and Shaun was instrumental in that process.
“I’m a massive fan of Tralee and it’s gut-wrenching to see talented young people leaving the town to work elsewhere. I’m sure many of them are doing fine in Dublin but you have to do very well just to live there,” he said.
Sigmar is offering people an alternative; a great work/life balance with a short commute.
“In fairness to Tralee Chamber Alliance, they put together a great package on Tralee. As Tralee people we don’t shout enough about how much we have to offer down here,” he said.
While it’s not necessary to have a degree in a particular area to get a job at Sigmar, there are some qualities that are essential.
“I’m sure it sounds like a cliché, but we are looking for people with hunger, passion and desire. They will be trained to research and find candidates for positions with our clients,” said Shaun.
“This isn’t like a sub-office and we’re not just putting an admin team down here. Tralee is the going to be the main pillar of growth for the company,” said Shaun.
Sigmar’s reputation is very impressive. They have 125 people already employed in Dublin, Galway and Cork and are No.3 in the Irish market for recruitment. They are founders of Talent Summit (largest HR conference in Ireland, set up to create better workplaces and improve working lives) and are consistently ranked in the Top 5 Great Places To Work in Ireland.
They were named Business of the Year in 2017 (European Business Awards) and recipient of Deloitte Best Managed Companies Award in 2018, 2017 and 2016.
Shaun says community very important to Sigmar and they aim to fully engage with local businesses and educational institutions in the town.
“We want to be involved as much as possible in the community. The best thing about Tralee is its people and when the people from Groupe Adéquat travelled over from Lyon in France, they couldn’t get over the welcome they received here. Hopefully when other companies see this jobs announcement, it might make them think about looking at the town to locate,” he said.
The future is looking very bright for Sigmar and hopefully this will be the start of something special for them in Tralee. They are looking to fill the positions immediately, so for more on the jobs contact Shaun directly on soshea@sigmar.ie or go to their website

Earlier this year, Sigmar announced a strategic partnership with French staffing giant Groupe Adéquat. The partnership deal is structured through a staged equity investment over a five-year period that will see Groupe Adéquat take majority interest.
Both companies are dominant players in their respective markets and are seeking to expand nationally within Ireland and internationally through organic growth and acquisition. The European Talent Hub in Tralee marks the partnership’s first significant investment in Ireland.
On making the jobs announcement, Shaun O’Shea, Sigmar Head of European Recruitment comments: “Ireland has the talent to capitalise on current international recruitment opportunities. This investment will kick-start the group’s international growth initially in Germany, then other parts of Europe and the US. Sigmar has been very supportive of regional development and this investment proves our belief in the business case for regionalisation. This European Talent Hub will be a key element of Sigmar’s stated international growth. It’s also an operation where we can develop and test new technologies including robotics and Artificial Intelligence. We have been working on the processes, technology and markets for some time to accelerate our international expansion.
“We are offering exciting and highly rewarding careers for individuals coming from all backgrounds with a core focus on sales and consultancy. Due to our substantial investment into R&D we believe our consultants will be working on new processes and tools which will shape our industry on a global scale for years to come.”
Aidan Kelly, President of Tralee Chamber Alliance welcomes the announcement. He says: “Through our team’s engagements with Shaun O’Shea and Sigmar over the past few months, we see this jobs announcement as being a significant endorsement of the real opportunities that are available in Tralee for employers. We look forward to continually supporting Sigmar in their expansion of their Talent Hub in Tralee over the coming years.”

PORTMAN Travel have created eight permanent new jobs at their European Centre of Excellence and have announced that another eight are planned to come on stream before the end of the year.
The Travel Management Company that has been operating in Tralee from Monavalley Business Park since 1999 and employs over 50 staff.
Eight people were taken on through the JobsBridge programme, all of whom did not have any previous experience in this type of work. They received training in the company’s Portman Academy which was created and designed in conjunction with JobsBridge to harness and develop fresh new talent for careers in business travel management.
The first eight graduates have successfully completed their training and were yesterday presented with their Certificate of Completion by Steve Allen, Portman Travel CEO, at a business networking event at Fels Point Hotel.
They now take up permanent positions at the Tralee base in Monavalley.
“The Portman Academy has proved to be a huge success and I am delighted to be here today to congratulate our eight graduates and more importantly welcome our eight new members of staff to the European Centre of Excellence,” said Portman Travel CEO Steve Allen.
“We are delighted to be expanding our operation in Tralee that has over the years always provided a rich talent pool with great customer service and sales skills. Our product innovation and truly unique booking technology, PortmanOne, enables us to attract the best new talent to our business without needing to have any travel experience. We will shortly commence recruitment for our next intake of Portman Academy interns in conjunction with JobsBridge with training scheduled to commence in the summer,” said Mr Allen.
“As a result of JobsBridge, Tralee will get more of our new staff, proportionately than our offices in the UK and the Netherlands so it’s a win-win initiative,” said Mr Allen, who was speaking to TraleeToday.ie at their offices in Monavalley.
“We approached this with the guarantee that anyone who was taken on would get a job on completion of training,” said Operations Director at Portman Travel, John Dick.
“I’ve been coming here for eight years now and one thing which has stood out for me is the quality of our people here in Tralee. That’s why we chose it as our centre of excellence,” he said.
Loraine Corkery, Vice President of Operations at Portman Travel, came up with the idea of involving JobsBridge in the training programme and was also delighted with how things have turned out.
“We had run training programmes of our own in the past and a number of our current employees have come through a similar process. The difference here is the involvement of JobsBridge. It’s been an added bonus as far as we’re concerned. The fact that we were able to select the right kind of people was crucial to us and JobsBridge themselves are very happy with how it’s worked out.
It might be a bit strong to say we’re a poster child for JobsBridge, but we’re certainly heading that way. This is very much in the spirit of what JobsBridge was set up to achieve – to train people for careers in a particular industry,” she said.
For more information about the Portman Academy and the Portman Travel European Centre of Excellence, please contact Niall Trant the Academy Manager on 087 – 4196887 or email ntrant@portmantravel.com

This is yet more good news with regards jobs growth in Tralee, after it was announced this week that a nightclub at the old Fabric nightclub is set to open in May.
DATA collected by the Irish Independent shows that there is a critical shortage of rental properties in Tralee and that house prices will rise as new jobs come on stream in the county capital this year from the reopening of new hotels, resulting in increased demand.
According to the figures to be published in a ‘How Much Is Your House Worth’ magazine published in the paper tomorrow, house prices in Kerry have risen 11% in the past year and expected to grow a further 10% in 2015.
Continued below…
It says the average house price in Kerry is €100,000 while housing stock is down 67%.
The data was collected by local valuation experts who conducted valuations of 35 different property types and forms part of the 64 page analysis of the Irish property market in Saturday’s Irish Independent.
It will also reveal that Dingle continues to fetch a premium over most other locations and the price of an average three bed in Kerry rose 14% in 2014.
The information is also to show 70% of sales are driven by banks and receivers who want to sell within a three month period while rural areas are not seeing the same improvement in prices.
Killarney is expected to experience a 10% rise in prices this year, slightly lower that the 11% in 2014. However, this is still 40% lower than 2006 levels. It also shows a shortage of four and five bedroom family homes.
