‘Ted Lasso’, ‘The Crown’ And ‘Derry Girls’ Stars To Film In Kerry Later This Year

Imelda Staunton of The Crown and Hannah Waddingham from Ted Lasso will be in Kerry later this year.

WELL-KNOWN faces from the world of TV will be in Kerry later this year for the filming of a new movie.

Hannah Waddingham of ‘Ted Lasso’ and ‘Game Of Thrones’ fame, Imelda Staunton who played the Queen in the latest series of ‘The Crown’ and Sister Michael from Derry Girls, Siobhan McSweeney, will star in ‘West The Road’.

Also starring The Magdalene Sisters’ Eileen Walsh, West The Road will be the feature debut from Irish writer-director Ita Fitzgerald.

Production will start later this year in Kerry. The film will follow a group of women brought together by the death of a childhood friend.

When they discover that she was forced to give her daughter up for adoption at the age of 15, the group embarks on a journey from the west of Ireland up the Wild Atlantic coastline – accompanied by a donkey called Thatcher – in search of the child. It will be produced with support from Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.
