HOUSE Tralee and various other houses in the Kingdom and beyond the realm, descended on IT Tralee over the past two days to do battle for the King of The North…Campus.
A replica of ‘The Iron Throne’ from the colossally popular HBO fantasy drama, ‘Game of Thrones’ was in situ at the ITT’s North Campus on Wednesday and Thursday and over 1,000 Kings have usurped and fought their way to the throne.
It represents a significant coup for the college’s student union who sent out their bannermen to help capture a fibreglass replica of the iconic throne.
Student, Gerard Denis O’Connor was one of those who sat on the throne, he described the experience as; “A duty I had to fulfill!”

“It’s a great feat to get such a huge pop culture phenomenon in the college. It’s not as big as I thought but all the same it’s pretty cool,” said Gerard Denis.
Irish company Fancosmic are behind ‘The Iron Throne Experience’ and have exclusive rights to tour the throne around Ireland and further afield. They told us it’s one of six fibreglass replicas in the world.
Some of the money raised from the event will go to the Donal Walsh LiveLife Foundation Charity along with the IT’s Student Hardship Fund.
“It’s fantastic that the public have come out to support this,” said Tralee Student Union president, Steve Clifford. “It’s one of the perks of coming to IT Tralee, as a student you are going to see a college that is going to back student activity and student experience,” said Steve Clifford.
