THREE men have died after a tragedy off the Kerry coast.

Gardai are investigating the suspected fishing tragedy after the bodies of the three men were discovered shortly after 6pm this evening on a stretch of coast just outside Cahersiveen.

An upturned Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) was found nearby and it is believed it was a freak marine accident.

Gardai have yet to determine the identities of the men but it is believed they are from Eastern Europe and living in Kerry. It is thought the men were out fishing.

The Irish Coastguard’s Shannon-based Sikorsky helicopter, Rescue 115, assisted in the major search operation launched. Their bodies  will be transferred to University Hospital Kerry  for full post mortem examinations.
