THIS Saturday, a local barber is donating all his takings from the day, as well as raffling a signed Kerry GAA jersey, in aid of a great cause.
Tony McMahon of T. McMahon’s Gentlemen’s Barbershop on Russell Street is raising the funds for the Make A Wish Foundation.
He managed to get a Kerry jersey signed by the players which will be raffled this Saturday afternoon, just in time for the winner to wear it in Croke Park on Sunday!

It costs €10 for a ticket for the raffle and there’s a host of vouchers from local businesses also to be won. For anyone who doesn’t win, their raffle ticket will be valid for a further draw the following week for a signed Kerry FC jersey. There’ll also be food and refreshments supplied to customers on Saturday.
If you want to help, call in and buy a ticket for the raffle between now and Saturday afternoon, or book in a haircut and contribute to a great cause.
Then, on Tuesday, August 8, Tony will receive some special visitors in the form of participants in ‘BarbersRide 2023’. BarbersRide was started in 2017 by a bunch of biking barbers in the UK that wanted to combine their love of biking and barbering with a fundraising charity event.
They will visit six barbers in Ireland in August, with Tony’s being one stop-off point. The barbers, from England, Scotland, Wales and Spain, will set up around the corner near Bridge Street collecting money for the Make A Wish Foundation.
