Trainees shooting the movie at Kerry ETB Training Centre this week.

TRALEE is getting a sprinkling of movie magic this week as Brian Nolan and his team of Broadcast Production trainees begin work with an impressive group of industry professionals to make their first ever ‘Mentored Movie’ in Kerry’s ETB’s National Digital Skills Centre in the Monavalley Campus.

It all takes place in the environs of the Monavalley campus until Saturday. A new concept for the training centre, the mentored movie brings seasoned industry professionals together with Film/TV trainees to collaborate on filming a feature – in this case – a comedy series entitled ‘TX’.

‘Cheers’, ‘Seinfeld’ and ‘3rd Rock From The Sun’ staff writer Andy Cowan was involved in mentoring the writing group and developed the initial storyline.

Claire Cassidy (Director) and Eve O’Mahony (Producer) added finishing touches to the script and this year the first person to commit to the crew was Mo Flam (Black Swan, I Am Legend) followed by Andrea O’Connor (Spotlight, Daredevil, Sex in the City), Ciaran Tanham (Red Rock, Love/Hate, RAW) and Noel Quinn (The Tudors, What Richard Did, Frank).

They were backed up by Diarmuid Galvin, Rupert MacCarthy Morrogh, Orla Finucane, Girts Balodis, Aoife O’Shea, John Lyons, Sean Smith plus other friends.

In other news, RTE Jr will be based in the National Digital Skills Centre for a number of weeks in May shooting two new television shows.

The National Digital Skills Centre is a state of the art media production and training facility – operated by Kerry ETB in the Monavalley Campus in Tralee.
