The IABA is delighted to confirm the launch of the High Five Boxing Academy this week, an inclusive boxing training programme, for children with disabilities and additional needs.
High Five began in four Dublin boxing clubs in October 2021.

Chairperson Paddy Dingle, from Michael Carruth’s Drimnagh Boxing Club, had an overwhelming desire to act in response to hearing about the lack of inclusion and access to sports for children with disabilities from parents, carers and assistants in his community.

.

Paddy revealed to boxing coaches and volunteers hoping to participate in the academy, that he and his colleagues have witnessed phenomenal benefits arising for the boxers as well as the parents. Parents and coaches have noted improvement in fitness, strength, co-ordination and confidence amongst the kids as well as the social benefits they experience participating in the class.

The IABA will begin to provide training, assistance, and support, in conjunction with Cara Sport Inclusion Ireland, to boxing clubs participating in the academy. Tralee Boxing Club is excited to be involved in the High Five Programme and look forward to the opportunity to help more kids in our community to bring out the best in themselves through boxing.

Reminding all members and prospective members, registration night for Tralee Boxing Club will take place from 5-7pm on Monday 5th September. Parents will need to accompany children to the desk to fill in registration forms. The fee remains the same at €20 per boxer for the year or €50 per family.

TBC would like to congratulate two of our hardest working members, Lynda and Nora, on their recent success being chosen for the IABA’s 2022-23 Women’s Coaching Pathway Programme.

There was huge demand for placements on the programme, an exciting initiative supported by Sport Ireland, for female coaches and aspiring coaches, giving them the opportunity to improve their knowledge, expand their network and develop leadership and coaching skills.

Well done ladies, we wish you the best of luck with your training and are proud of you and your hard work to expand and diversify our coaching team.

.

Finally we would like to remind everyone that TBC will launch the last leg of our project to help integrate migrant communities through boxing on Monday September 5th.

The project will officially finish up on September 30th and has been extremely successful and a whole lot of fun so far. Anyone interested in participating , please check out Tralee Boxing Club 22 on Facebook for more details or to get in contact.
