TRALEE Lions Club will hold their annual street collection this Friday and Saturday in aid of good causes in the Tralee area for Christmas.

Tralee Lions Club was formed over 50 years ago and their motto is “We Serve”. It is about helping others in the community through fundraising and other activities aimed at promoting the improvement of the lives of those most in need in the community.

“It is not an exclusive club and we are always looking for new members and volunteers,” said Sean Cooke. “Everyone is welcome. It is a very worthwhile experience as evidenced by many of the longstanding members of the club. Our members give as much or a little time as they can afford but together we achieve great things and enjoy great experiences,” said Sean.

“Please give whatever you can afford or think that our causes deserve this weekend. We will have collection points at AIB, Penneys, Garvey’s SuperValu and Dunnes Stores NCR. We look forward to meeting you on the streets,” added Sean.

The main activities of the Tralee club are to assist local activities and projects such as the Tralee Community Bus trip coordinated jointly each year between the Lions Club and the local Community Garda, Tralee Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels, Hawley Park School, and Eagle Lodge.

They run a number of fundraising events during the year including an annual Table Quiz, an annual Golf Classic and a December Street Collection in advance of Christmas. All funds raised go directly to local charities.

The club meets monthly on the second Tuesday of every month from October through to May at The Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee. Tralee Lions Club can be contacted on their Facebook page or at traleelionsclub@gmail.com
