The late Trevor Barrett.

A GOLF event in honour of the late Austin Stacks dual player, Trevor Barrett, is set to take place this Saturday in Ballyheigue.

‘The Trevor Barrett Memorial Golf Classic’  is a four person per team competition being held at Ballyheigue Castle Golf Club with 45 teams of four taking part to date, but more are welcome.

This is the first of two charity events being held in Trevor’s memory in the next fortnight, the other being a memorial hurling tournament to be held on Saturday, August 2 (see story here). The proceeds from both events go to Bru Colombanus, Cork.

Total Cleaning Supplies 1x

Twenty-nine-year-old Trevor was a much loved member of the Austin Stacks GAA club who passed away in April after a short illness.

There has been huge support from the local community of Tralee, North Kerry and also further a field with an overwhelming response to appeals for sponsorship of winners’ prizes, spot prizes, food and all the essentials needed for the day to be a success.

From 5pm there will be live music and a BBQ for everybody that would like to come to remember Trevor. The organisers stress that the evening of the event is open to all including non-golfers and non-participants.
“The event is to have fun and enjoy life like Trevor did and to raise much deserved and needed funds for Bru Columbanus, Cork,” according to Aisling O’Mahony, one of the organisers.
Teams of four cost €100 and for more information please call 066-7133555 to book tee-times.
