Mick O’Dwyer and Oliver Callan both contribute to ‘The Purest Win’.

A NEW book containing contributions from famous people is in the shops now with proceeds from sales going to Kerry Cancer Support Group.

Football legend Mick O’Dwyer, cyclist Sean Kelly, television personalities Mike Murphy and Oliver Callan all contribute while there is original poetry from our poet laureate Paula Meehan, and from playwright Frank McGuinness, and much much more.

“The Purest Win” is the title of the new anthology of short stories and poems compiled in aid of the Kerry Cancer Support Group, who provide a vital service with their Health Link Buses, transporting people for treatment to Cork and Limerick hospitals.

The new anthology has been a year in the making and has been made possible by the contribution of wonderful stories and poems from sports and television personalities, business leaders, and renowned writers and artists.

There have also been contributors from the US and Europe who, recognising the essential work of the KCSG, did not hesitate to help. World renowned artist Pauline Bewick gave two paintings for the project, one of which forms the cover of the book.

While the book is available in shops now, the official Book Launch will take place in the Kerry County Library, Moyderwell, Tralee on Thursday, March 15 at 7pm.

During the launch, there will be an auction of the two Bewick paintings featured in the book, as well as the poem by Paula Meehan, which she has handwritten on Japanese paper, and the signed poem by Frank McGuinness.  All proceeds of the auction will go to KCSG. Everyone is welcome.

The Purest Win is available at all SuperValu supermarkets throughout Kerry and in all branches of Horan’s Health Stores in Kerry, Cork and Limerick.

Books may also be ordered online through Polymath Books in Tralee at http://polymathbookshop.tbpcontrol.co.uk/). It will sell for €12.
