CANNABIS with an estimated street value of €480,000 was seized by Gardaí in the Newcastle West and Abbeyfeale areas today.
As part of an ongoing operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Newcastle West area, Gardaí from Newcastle West Garda Station, with the assistance of the Garda National Drug Unit and the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit have seized cannabis with an estimated value of €480,000, pending analysis.
A planned search of four locations was carried out in the Newcastle West and Abbeyfeale areas of Co. Limerick. Cannabis herb and cannabis plants all at different stages of harvesting was seized.
Two men, aged 39 and 36 years, were arrested and are currently detained at Newcastle West and Henry Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
The operation was carried out by Gardaí attached to various divisional units at Henry Street Garda Station and Newcastle West Garda Station with the assistance of the local community.
